"He ransoms me unharmed from the battle waged against me..." Psalm 55:18

Psalm 55:18 supernaturally summarizes the testimony of those who know the Lord. God has rescued us, just as He rescued the psalmistOnce held captive to the power of sin and death, we have been rescued. Jesus Christ has defeated our foe and advisory and rescued us (Ps 55:18). And whatsoever things God does, He does well! Therefore, He not only rescues, but delivers us unharmed.

Only through Jesus can those dead in sin be made alive! (Eph 2:1) Only by His grace can those burdened by sin be freed from the chains of guilt. (Rom 8:1) We are free from sin. It brought us death, but Jesus gives us life. So let’s not hold on to it, be bent on giving in to it, or show affection for it! We are Jesus’ people, free to live for Him.
