Today’s Bible Reading: Ezra 1:1- 2:20; Daniel 6; Nehemiah 7:4-25

“…Who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.” Daniel 6:27 NKJV

Daniel in the lions’ den! What a fantastic, classic Bible story! But not only is it an incredible account of God’s deliverance of Daniel, it’s a great example of God’s deliverance of you and me, here and now. You see, the Bible tells us in 1 Peter 5:8:

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” NKJV

We might not have ever been face to face with a real lion like Daniel was, but the truth is God has rescued each of us from a very real spiritual beast – a roaring lion. Perhaps you didn’t see the vicious predator with your physical eyes, but he was there and he was hungry for your soul!

But just like God saved Daniel from the powerful jaws of the real lions, He has rendered the roaring lion after us completely powerless. For the Lord saved us from our sin and snatched us right out of the devil’s den (Eph. 2:1-5). Like He did for Daniel, God has shut the mouth of our adversary and he no longer has any power over us!

God demonstrated His authority over all of creation to the entire nation of Babylon as He saved Daniel from the lions’ den – but He has also demonstrated His authority over principalities, powers, and spiritual darkness to all of creation as He died and rose again.

“And having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.” Colossians 2:15

So remember today, dear Christian – just like God delivered Daniel, He has rescued you and me too. If you feel as though you’re stuck in the lions’ den just consider that you’re safe from your foe because He died and rose again!
