A Quite Time that was Life Changing

Today’s Through the Bible Reading: Mark 9:2-37; Matthew 17:1-23; Matthew 18:1-5; Luke 9:28-48

It's been said, “If you don’t set time apart, you’ll fall apart.” Once again, in today’s reading we see Jesus pulling His disciples apart in order to teach them and show them His glory. Today we’re reading the amazing account of the Transfiguration.  These passages are comforting on so many levels…

Jesus knew His disciples needed time with Him alone, away from the crowds. Life gets busy and we all need time with Jesus apart from the noise. If Peter, James or John had declined Jesus’ invitation to accompany Him this day, they would have missed out on a life altering revelation and experience.  As we hear the Holy Spirit beckon us to spend time in God’s Word, in prayer and worship, the importance of accepting the invitation can be life altering.Time in the Lord’s presence reveals His glory and fellowship with Him prepares us for what lies ahead.

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. Jeremiah 33:3

The disciples got a glimpse of Jesus as we will see Him in Heaven – glorified (Rev 1:13-16). He came the first time as a baby, the Lamb of God, the humble servant who laid down His life in exchange for ours. But He is coming again as the Lion of Judah, the King of kings; and every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord (Rom 14:11 and Phil 2:10).

This is the Jesus we serve, who is able to bear our burdens and conquer our fears. He is both servant and the Great I Am. He conquered sin and death and is coming again to take His rightful place as King.

If He calls you to get in a quite place and spend time with Him, don't decline! Let's look into His Word today and prepare your heart to see Him.
