Don’t Give Up, Keep Going

Today’s Through the Bible Reading: Joshua 16:1-19:9

Abbreviated Reading: Joshua 18

Jesus died on the cross so we could live. He conquered sin and death to bring us victory. We are free from our old life and given victory. Yet individually, much can remain unconquered.

How long will you wait before you begin to take possession? Joshua18:3

In today's reading, Joshua admonishes Israel to take possession of the entire land God promised them. We find the same admonishment in the New Testament as Paul encourages us to run this life race well and to throw off anything that would hold us back. (1 Cor. 9:24)

The Promised Land required battles and sanctification – sound familiar? Our hearts require the same.

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1, 2

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:57
