Waiting for His Glorious Promise

Today’s Through the Bible Reading: Jeremiah 22; 2 Kings 23:31-37; Habakkuk 1-3

Abbreviated Reading: Habakkuk 1-3

“For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, As the waters cover the sea.” Habakkuk 2:14

One day, not too far away, the earth WILL be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord. And what a day that will be! We eagerly look forward to when King Jesus will reign forever and make all that’s wrong in this world, right. The Bible says that on that day every tear will be wiped away and there will be joy and rejoicing forevermore (Rev. 21:4).

But until that day, remember that God’s timing is absolutely perfect. He remains faithful to His Word and the promises in it. So even if the days seem long and it seems as though the Lord is delaying His coming, don’t grow weary (Gal. 6:9). Think back to Habakkuk’s time, Israel was waiting…and waiting…and waiting for the promised Redeemer. That promise was made way back in Genesis 3:15, reiterated to their father Abraham (Gen. 22:18), and pictured throughout the law and sacrifices. Yet, it was only in God’s perfect timing that His glory walked among them in human form, perfectly fulfilling His promise (John 1:14-16).

“For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.” Habakkuk 2:3

Now, if God was faithful to come the first time, He will be faithful to come again.

“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” 1 Thessalonians 4:17-18

So, wait for it…and watch in eager anticipation for He is coming back soon!
