All Things Work Together for Good

Really, All things

Today's Through the Bible Reading: Genesis 40-41

Abbreviated Reading: Genesis 41

“…For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.” Genesis 41:52

Joseph’s choice of words here challenges my thinking: “God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.” Joseph didn’t praise God for delivering him from his affliction, but for the fruit that came out of it. In the midst of missery, he remained convinced that God’s plans were being accomplished.

Again, Joseph points our eyes to Jesus Himself. Consider how Jesus prayed as He faced the cross, “Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done” (Luke 22:42). He asked God to change His situation, yet He submitted, knowing the fruit that His suffering would bring.

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame…” Hebrews 12:2

In light of the difficulties you face, you can look at the cross and Jesus’s willingness to endure it and know that God’s plans are good, despite any temporal circumstances. Jesus endured the ultimate affliction as He bore the sins of the world.

God's plans are good. If He is for us, who or what can be against us! He is faithful to direct our steps and guide our thoughts. As life unfolds and plans take shape, REMEMBER to give HIM the Glory for all things.

Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:20

Although Joseph's life included many difficult seasons, God's plans were being accomplished. Joseph’s life is a beautiful and powerful example of God’s steadfast plans for our lives.

I know that you God can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted. Job 42:2

What God determines for us, He will accomplish. As believers, this is encouraging! God promises to finish the good work He’s begun.

Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6

Dig into His Word today and be encouraged. He is not reckless with you or the things He has planned for you.
