Leviticus, A Picture of Jesus

Today's Through the Bible Reading: Leviticus 1 - 4

Abbreviated Reading: Leviticus 4

Think Leviticus is boring? Think again! A closer look will reveal a shadow of Jesus on every page.  You just might find Leviticus to be one of your favorite books!

If you want to add JOY to the book of Leviticus - look for JESUS! Take a closer look at the fulfillments and how perfectly Jesus satisfied every requirement, thereby bringing us rest.

In the New Testament, Paul explains that the law, as seen in Leviticus, was given to reveal God’s standard for holiness and our inability to meet it (Gal. 3:24). Paul says in Romans 7:12 that the law is holy and just and good. We, however, in our carnality, are simply unable to keep all the rules and regulations of the law (James 3:2).

But where we fall short of the law, Jesus triumphs! What the blood of bulls and goats could not do, the Perfect Lamb of God accomplished once for all (Heb. 10:4, 12).

Jesus is our Great High Priest who stands making intercession for us. He is our peace offering, cleansing our conscience of past sin. He is our atonement, covering our transgressions. He is the sweet smelling sacrifice that, as hard as we may try, our dead works cannot produce.

Jesus is the perfect Lamb of God who laid down His own life. Dying on the cross, He paid the penalty that we owned.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:17

As we read through Leviticus, we can rejoice as we see God’s perfect standard and realize it has been completely and fully satisfied in Jesus Christ.
