Today’s Bible Reading: 2 Kings 24:5-9; 1 Chronicles 3:10-16; Daniel 3; Jeremiah 9:16- 21; Jeremiah 10:17-25; Jeremiah 12:7-17; Jeremiah 19:14-20:18

Are you in the middle of a trial? Is your own personal fiery furnace heating up? Take heart!

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as you are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when His glory shall be revealed, you may be glad also with exceeding joy. 1 Peter 4:12, 13

But why? we ask while feeling the heat. Peter gives us a reason for why trials come our way:

That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1:7

Today we’re reading the account of Shadrack, Meshach, and Abed-nego who literally walked in the fire. Here’s what’s amazingly comforting – Jesus was in the midst of the fire with them, walking and talking with them! “…and the fourth man looks like a son of the gods” said King Nebuchadnezzar as he looked in.

Indeed it was the Son of God Himself, protecting Shadrack, Meshach, and Abed-nego as they walked through the fire. So too He stands with us. The Creator of the world is also the one who comforts us in our trials.
