Bringing Out Our Worst

Today’s Through the Bible Reading: Acts 15 - 16

Have you ever been around the sort who has a way of bringing out your worst? Yikes! Well, that is exactly what the law was meant to do. That was it's purpose. The law was meant to point out all of our shortcomings and lead us to the ONE who could fix everything.

Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. Gal 3:24-25

We are free from the law of sin and death. “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:2

In today’s reading we find several examples of freedom – freedom from the law (Acts 15:8-11); freedom from sin and oppression (Acts 16:17, 18); and literal freedom from chains (Acts 16:25:29).

We, as Christians have been set free. We are free to live for Him. Hebrews 12:1 admonishes us to throw off every weight that would hinder us from running the good race. So, today as you hear the Holy Spirit call, prick your conscience, or encourage your spirit – obey what He lays on your heart and what you read in His Word and run to Jesus.
