End with a Song

Today’s Through the Bible Reading: Psalm 90; Deuteronomy 31:30 – 32:52

Abbreviated Reading: Deuteronomy 32

“And Moses spake in the ears of all the congregation of Israel the words of this song, until they were ended.” Deuteronomy 31:30

The account of Moses’ life ends with his song. Ahhh, to end life with a song is a good way to finish the race. Here Moses recounts God’s faithfulness, ponders His power, and encourages God’s people to remember the Lord’s favor and walk righteously.

Moses’ life certainly included hardships. Despite having given up his royal Egyptian inheritance, been questioned by, doubted by, and grumbled against by the very people he helped deliver, not to mention never getting to step foot into the Promised Land - Moses still sings his song reflecting on God’s faithfulness and rightness. What an example for you and me to follow!

“I will proclaim the name of the LORD. Oh, praise the greatness of our God! He is the Rock, His works are perfect, and all His ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is He.” Deuteronomy 32:3-4 NIV

Regardless of personal expectations or aspirations never fulfilled or achieved, God is still faithful and loves us to death! He proved it on the cross. So, we can sing a song declaring His goodness and encouraging others to walk with Him no matter what direction our own personal lives take.

“Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Like Moses, may you and I end our days with a song - declaring God’s goodness and rightness, regardless of whether it ends the way we want  –  end in praise anyway.
