The Best is Yet to Come

Today’s Through the Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 7-10

Abbreviated Reading: Ecclesiastes 7

“Do not say, ‘Why were the old days better than these?’ For it is not wise to ask such questions.” Ecclesiastes 7:10 niv

If something in your life doesn’t seem quite right compared to the old, don’t despair! God promises to take us from glory to glory (2 Cor 3:18). God’s love endures forever (Ezra 3:11). His plans are perfect. His purposes are sure.

This Old Testament advice reminds me of a New Testament exhortation…

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before. Philippians 3:13

Praise the Lord that we can always proceed in a forward motion. No matter how good the “good ol’ days” were… what’s to come is better! Why? Because God promises and we’re Heaven bound!

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 1 Corinthians 2:9

We many never see the finished tapestry this side of Heaven – but our God is trustworthy and His plans are good. So just wait, you’ll see. Soon and very soon we are going to see our King. Although we’ve spent this life looking through a glass dimly, we will see all things as He planned. Let’s arrive having trusted Him along the way.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 1 Corinthians 13:12

In the meantime, let His Word be your daily delight and a lamp unto your feet. Dig in and expect good things, we have Jesus!
