His Magnificent Work

Today's Through the Bible Reading: Psalm 104; 114; 115; 1 Kings 20

Abbreviated Reading: Psalm 104, 115

“Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.” Psalm 104:1

We serve an AWESOME God! His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts beyond our comprehension (Isa. 55:9). Today's reading is full of passages that should cause us to stop and consider the greatness of our God, His amazing majesty, and His awesome authority.

In His wisdom He created all things (Ps. 104:24). He rules creation (Ps. 104:2-4), sets boundaries that cannot be crossed (Ps. 104:9), His glory endures forever (Ps. 104:31), He brings water out of solid rock (Ps. 114:8), and the earth trembles at His presence (Ps. 114:7). In His majesty, He does whatever pleases Him – for He is God in heaven.

“Our God is in heaven; He does whatever pleases Him.” Psalm 115:3 NIV

And yet, consider that what pleased Him most was to humble Himself by becoming a man and enduring the cross for the joy of redeeming us.

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2

He created all things, and yet, He chose to die in order to redeem the very things He created. Amazing love! As you read His Word today, consider the work of His hands, consider His whole creation, and ask Him who loves you to death what He desires to create in you today. His works are magnificent and you are one of them. Praise Him for creating you, dying for you, and working in you today – He is worthy!
