His Loving Gaze
Today’s Through the Bible Reading: Isaiah 64-66; 2 Kings 21; 2 Chronicles 33
Abbreviated Reading: Isaiah 66
"…But to this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.” Isaiah 66:2 NASB
The Bible tells us that God is constantly on the lookout for those who love Him and whose hearts follow hard after Him.
“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew Himself strong on the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward Him.” 2 Chronicles 16:9
Our hearts however, are inherently wicked and the Word declares that there’s nothing in our sinful nature that seeks God apart from Him first seeking us (John 6:44; Rom. 7:18; 1 John 4:19; Jer. 17:9).
None of us have hearts that are perfect toward our Heavenly Father – but Jesus Christ does! So you see, when God searches the earth for those who have a contrite spirit and a humble heart - His eyes wouldn’t stop on you and me naturally, but if we’re in Christ our sins are covered completely so that now the Father views us righteously.
“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21
Know this, when God’s eyes seek for those who are perfect, they will stop on you – oh, not because you’re perfect but because you’re perfectly forgiven. And as His eyes are fixed on you, you are the apple of His eye (Ps. 17:8; Zech. 2:8) and the joy and rejoicing of His heart (Prov. 8:31).
Dear friend, don’t go through your day today thinking He’s watching you just waiting to find out your faults and flaws. On the contrary, He already knows them and sent His Son to wash them away so He could simply watch over you with His tender, loving gaze.
