Blessed, Regarless of Egypt

You are blessed

Today's Through the Bible Reading: Genesis 46:13-47:12

Abbreviated Reading: Genesis 47:1-12

“...I am God, the God of thy father: fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of thee a great nation:” Genesis 46:3

When Jacob and his family arrived in Egypt (a picture of the world), God provided them with the best land (Gen. 47:6). They came during a drought and famine, yet God provided abundantly.

Here we see a profound example of God’s grace and mercy. Jacob’s family was broken and his heart longed to see his lost son, who was in Egypt. We know that God’s perfect will was for His chosen people to inherit the Promised Land of Canaan (Gen. 26:1-5). Yet here, God gives Jacob permission to go to Egypt along with a promise to bless his family there.

What a wonderful picture of our life in Christ! We may be broken, traveling through this fallen world, but through Jesus Christ we have abundant life and the promise of blessings.

“But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

God provided for Israel abundantly while they were in Egypt. We are told that Joseph settled his family in the best part of the land and provided for them straight from Pharaoh’s warehouses (Gen. 47:11).

So too, Jesus has provided for us! Jesus came to give us everlasting LIFE! New life (2 Cor. 5:17); abundant life (John 10:10); and everything pertaining to life (2 Peter 1:3). He has planted us in His vineyard, grafted us into His family, and has made us co-heirs with Christ (Rom. 8:17), and provided for our every need straight from the King’s treasures.

This is your inheritance - You are blessed!
