God Rescues

And He Rescued You

Today's Through the Bible Reading: Genesis 19-21

Abbreviated Bible Reading: Genesis 19:1-29

“…the Lord being merciful unto him…brought him forth, and set him without the city.” Genesis 19:1

Abraham's story continues and God remains FAITHFUL to His promises! Today’s reading is full of examples of God’s goodness, justice, and faithfulness despite our lack thereof.

In today’s reading we find the account of Sodom and Gomorrah, where we see God’s just wrath against sin and our need to run from it and not look back (like Lot’s wife did); we read about Abraham’s interaction with Abimelech and get insight into Abraham’s fears and how his lack of trust in God led to manipulation and deceitfulness. Hmmmm, how often do we lose sight of God’s promises and question His goodness and the result is a convoluted plan full of our own messy efforts.

However, today’s reading ends with a huge praise as the long awaited promised Isaac is born! What a wonderful picture of God’s own promised Son – Jesus. God promised Abraham a son by whom He’d bring forth a nation. God promised all of mankind His Son, by whom He would redeem the world.

But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. Galatians 4:4-5

As you read through Abraham's life experiences, think about your own and how God has been faithful to see you through, protect your life, and keep everyone of His promises concerning you.
