You Are Treasured

Israel, our example

Today's Through the Bible Reading: Exodus 19-21

Abbreviated Reading: Exodus 20:1-17

“…you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation." Exodus 19:5-6 NIV

God revealed His character as He chose, delivered, and led Israel. We can see, throughout Exodus, how He works in and through us too.

“Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition…” 1 Corinthians 10:11

God led Israel out of Egypt - just as He leads us out of sin. He chose Israel to be His people and treasured them - just as He's called us and declares us to be His treasure and pearl of great price (Matt. 13:44-46). God set Israel apart to be His special people and a kingdom of priests – just as He has called us to be a royal priesthood, a holy people.

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;” 1 Peter 2:9 NKJV

Although the whole earth is His, He has set His affection on you and desires to work in and through your life (Eph. 2:10).

God declared that Israel was His treasured possession – for out of Israel He would bring a Redeemer, His own Son, who would deliver all of mankind and restore our fellowship with God.

Just as God declared Israel His treasure – He really, truly has spoken the same over you individually and personally! You are the joy that gave Him purpose to endure the cross (Heb. 12:2). You are His treasure, holy because of Jesus’ blood, redeemed to be a royal priesthood, and very, very loved.
