Jesus, Day by Day: March

This Month’s Reading Plan at a Glance:  March

Victory in the Wilderness

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. Numbers 6:24-26

Can you believe 2020 is nearly three months in the rear view mirror?! As anxious as we may have been to make an exodus from 2020, many of the challenges still remain and new ones keep popping up. But much like Israel traveling through the wilderness, these times are when we learn the greatest lessons. It was in the wilderness that God taught Israel how to walk with Him and it’s in our tough times that God shows Himself so very faithful and we learn firsthand just how much He loves us.

However, there is a right way to walk through the wilderness and there is a wrong way. God’s way through these difficult times is filled with provision, protection, refreshment, and fellowship with Him.

The book of Numbers describes Israel’s forty years in the wilderness and details a pattern of submission and obedience that inevitably leads to deliverance. The story of Israel’s sojourn, or pilgrimage, accurately pictures our Christian walk and the life of our Lord Jesus. Christ overcame in the wilderness (Matt. 4:1–11). He came to serve (Matt. 20:28; John 6:38) and He clearly lived a life of pilgrimage (Lk. 9:58).

It was in the wilderness where God taught Israel how to walk with Him in righteousness. It was in the wilderness where Jesus was tempted and showed us how to overcome through the power of His Word.

The wilderness can be a beautiful place, filled with springs of living water, miraculous provision, and fellowship with the Lord.

Keep reading His Word - it is a light through the dark desert and leads to abundant life.
