Jesus, Day by Day: June

This Month’s Reading Plan at a Glance:  June

Is God Really Faithful?

"Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for..." Proverbs 16:6

Indeed God did bring atonement through the ultimate act of love.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13

There are glimpes and pictures of Jesus throughout the book of Proverbs! Proverbs 16 speaks of God’s failthfulness as it relates to His forgiveness. Why faithfulness? Well, think all the way back to Genesis 3:15 when God first promised to provide a remedy for mankind’s sin. He was very FAITHFUL to do that through His only begotten son, Jesus.

God brought us salvation and forgiveness of sin. Humbling Himself, He became a man to die and pay the price we owed. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, the Psalmist in Psalm 16 wrote of the coming Redeemer, who through love and faithfulness would make atonement for our sin. Hundreds of years later, John the Baptist would proclaim the Redeemer's entrance with a glorious introduction. Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! (John 1:29).

The Old Testament saints looked forward to the Redeemer. As the New Testament church, we have the privilege of looking back and seeing how God fulfilled His promise through Jesus Christ. Truly God brought salvation on the earth and showed us His unfailing love and faithfulness! (Ps 85:7)

Be glad today and give thanks to Him today. He loves you.
