SING!
Today’s Through the Bible Reading: 1 Chronicles 9:1-34; Nehemiah 12
…to keep the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings, and with singing. Nehemiah 12:27
One of the most poignant descriptions in today’s reading is this: two large choirs were brought to Jerusalem for the dedication of the wall. Nehemiah had them proceed around the city, on top of the wall, in opposite directions (Nehemiah 12:31, 38). They encircled the city with praise!
Levites were also brought to Jerusalem to “celebrate joyfully the dedication with songs of thanksgiving and with the music of cymbals, harps and lyres” (Nehemiah 12:27).
Our lives are built on the solid rock of Jesus Christ. He is our strong tower, a sure foundation, a steady wall. Now we have the privilege of encircling our lives with praise.
…I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. Psalm 34:1
Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord. Ephesians 5:19
So, let's pick up God’s Word and do like Nehemiah did and celebrate joyfully remembering all the Lord has done!
