Jesus, Captain of the Host & Great Conqueror

Wonder how the account of Jericho could possibly be a picture of Jesus? It's amazing...

The entire Bible is all about Jesus. The Old Testament painted pictures that pointed to Him and the New Testament revealed Him. The book of Joshua is no exception. Jesus is here!

We’ve seen Jesus from the beginning – God’s Word spoken in Genesis 1:1 (John 1:1); the promise of a Redeemer in Genesis 3:15; He is pictured in the life of Abraham and Isaac (Genesis 22); He’s seen throughout the book of Job; He’s pictured in more than 300 ways through the life of Joseph; and He is the fulfillment of sacrifices in Leviticus. Now we see Jesus in the book of Joshua, the life of Rahab, and the conquering of Jericho. As we read about Joshua, the General of Israel’s army, we will see Jesus, the Great Conqueror. (Heb 2:10, 11) He not only defeats our foes, but paid the ultimate price to redeem our souls.
